Raymond is a wonderful photographer with a remarkable biography. He can easily capture the beauty of the world in a photograph. And, as always, I am curious to know the creative person more closely so I asked him to tell us a little about himself.

- You may characterize me  as someone who is driven to be outside. As a child I have always loved to play and recreate outside by participating in every sport (baseball, basketball, football), skiing, surfing, climbing, biking, hiking, and just wandering slowly through nature.

Most importantly, when I was 21, I discovered PHOTOGRAPHY, not only as an inborn talent but as a way to express my artistic side, a way to earn a living, and a way of LIFE, ALL while being OUTSIDE! (as you can tell, I hated school!)

I began my photography education at a small art college, transferred to a large university, and earned a degree in Journalism, emphasis on photojournalism. When I graduated I won a summer internship at National Geographic (my dream since I was ten), then began my early career at two excellent newspapers as a photojournalist for 10 years. I then  achieved my true dream and was asked by National Geographic to be a contract photographer for them, which I did for 25 years.

And now I am teaching students wildlife, landscape, art, and iphone photography for the Creative Arts School in Delray Beach, Florida. And this, of course, also keeps me OUTSIDE!!
