TRAVEL IN THE TIME

TRAVEL IN THE TIME

I didn't expect to find such a nice museum located in the heart of Kiev. The museum is actually an old house with a well-preserved interior dating from the mid 19th century.
The greatest Ukrainian poet  Taras Shevchenko lived here for many, many years.

Taras Shevchenko holds records for the most monuments in the world. There are 1,384 monuments dedicated to him in thirty six different countries. His name has been given to towns, streets, cinemas, subway stations, restaurants, and many other things. His image has grown younger over the past twenty years. He was portrayed as an old man, he is now a young man, as seen on his monuments and Ukrainian currency. Such are the metamorphoses in life.

Another interesting note; when I visited the museum there was a documentary being filmed about students in the Russian empire from the end of the 19th century. All of the sets and costumes were in full compliance with this epoch. I was completely caught up in those distant times.

I recommend this interesting museum!

Entrance fee is about $2.00
